The 2015 SEMA auto show is coming up fast and for this year's event Blood Type Racing has created a sinister, high-powered Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec. Known for creating out-of-this-world tuners, the Chicago-based company made several exterior, interior, chassis/suspension and powertrain modifications to the three-door hatchback in an effort to boost its performance and give it an evil appearance that will stand out among the masses at this year's SEMA show in Vegas.
Pumping out an incredible 500 horsepower, Blood Type Racing's Veloster Turbo R-Spec is a beast on the pavement. The BTR team was able to achieve this output by retuning the OEM ECU, and adding new cylinder sleeves, custom connecting rods/pistons and a Garrett turbocharger to the car's standard 1.6L Gamma four-cylinder engine. The also utilized Hyundai's GDI technology in an effort to maintain the hatchback’s OEM drivability.
Aside from the performance aspects of the BTR Edition Veloster, the exterior was one of the biggest challenges the team faced when creating the model. To give the car a menacing look, they outfitted the model with a carbon fiber wide-body kit, rear deck spoiler and front-mounted aero canards. A Carbon Black paint job was then applied to the vehicle, along with a red racing stripe and various red accents on the back of the sideview mirrors and wheels. To finish off the appearance, only one thing was needed: red projector headlights, which create a demonic gaze that's impossible to ignore.
In addition to the aggressive exterior, the Veloster's cabin has been outfitted with Sabelt bucket seats and harnesses, a four-point roll cage and Rockford Fosgate speakers/subwoofers. With all of these upgrades and more, the Veloster Turbo R-Spec is a force to be reckoned with on the street.
