We are proud to announce that Hyundai's very own driver, Rhys Millen, took first place in a recent Global Rallycross Championship race in Daytona, Fla. The longest of all the races in the GRC series, the Daytona course was a rigorous one, but that didn't stop Millen from coming out on top in the semifinal, which led to a pole position in the final. With additional help from his rallycross car, a customized Hyundai Veloster, Millen was able to blaze through the race and secure a victory for the automaker - their first win in the 2014 season.

Going into the Daytona race, the competition was stiff; however, many drivers were negatively impacted by the Florida heat and humidity, which affected their overall performance. Millen was able to hold on despite this disadvantage and used the courses' long straightaway to keep his distance from the pack, maintaining his lead in the final race. This move earned him a first place finish and put points on the board for Team Hyundai; an achievement Millen could not have been happier about.

It's just amazing with how strong the car was coming into this weekend," said Millen in a post-race interview. "The car was on point. We had the fastest car this weekend and the competition was intense in the final; but we did what we set out to do and won."

Although excited about his victory, Millen is ready to compete in the next GRC race, scheduled to be held on September 20 in Los Angeles. The weekend event will be made up of two races and we hope the Hyundai team comes out successful once again.
