Cancer can occur at any age, and it's especially devastating when a child is diagnosed. While treatments exist for many cancers, they aren't always successful. That's why Hyundai started Hope on Wheels — to fund research that improves survival odds for children.
What Has Hyundai Done So Far?
Hope on Wheels reached its 27th year in 2025, and Hyundai announced a $27 million pledge to support the initiative. The announcement occurred at a gala in Washington, D.C., with company executives, researchers, and other stakeholders present. The charity has awarded $27 million to hospitals and research centers to aid their work.
The Program Is Expanding
Historically, Hope on Wheels has supported children in the United States. Earlier in 2025, the program expanded into Canada, with plans to move into Mexico as well. This expansion will supply healthcare providers, patients, and families in those regions with the tools they need to tackle childhood cancer.
The Program Has Yielded Positive Results
Thanks in part to Hope on Wheels, survival rates for childhood cancers have climbed from 75% to 85%. The end goal remains to ensure that every child survives and thrives after cancer. Continued research helps pinpoint causes and develop treatment options tailored to each patient's needs.
