Specs at a Glance
The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe comes in four trim levels. There are a number of notable updates to the Hyundai Santa Fe this year, including the addition of a new plug-in model to the lineup. There is also a new trim level in the regular version of the Santa Fe called the XRT that has a bolder and more rugged exterior appearance. While there are some changes to the lineup and the SUV in general, the trim options are otherwise the same as they were in 2021. The 2022 Santa Fe comes with several great choices, including the SE and SEL trim levels. The SE is the base model, and the SEL is second in line. The SE provides exceptional value, and the SEL adds a bit more in the way of comfort and conveniences.
Performance
The SE and SEL trims use the same engine, a four-cylinder engine with a 2.5L displacement. Powered by this engine, they both get a maximum power rating of 191 HP and just over 180 LB-FT of maximum torque. The SE and SEL also have an eight-speed automatic as their standard transmission. While you'll get a front-wheel drive for both, all-wheel drive is available as an alternative for better traction.
Appearance
The SE and SEL both generally have a contemporary and slightly sporty exterior appearance. The SE has LED headlights, and 18-inch wheels finished in an alloy. A few more stylistic and functional exterior amenities come with the SEL, including roof rails for more storage capacity and heated side mirrors. Several packages are available for the SEL that add some additional external features, including a Premium Package that gives the trim a panoramic sunroof and a Convenience Package with a hands-free power liftgate and sunshades in the back row.
Features
Many features are standard with the SE, and even more, are standard and optional with the SEL. The SE and SEL both seat five passengers. The SE has cloth upholstery and a split-folding back seat. For technology, it has an eight-inch touchscreen display, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and smartphone pairing. There are four USB ports in total, with two in the front row and two in the back. The SEL adds more safety technology to what the SE offers. It also has a wireless phone charging pad and heated front seats. A leather steering wheel and digital key system are available for add-on upgrades.
