Hyundai made out extremely well this year in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, earning quality awards for the 2014 Accent and Elantra. Their most awards to date, Hyundai is proud of the achievement as well as being named the highest-ranked non-premium brand for the third time in the past ten years. Overall, Hyundai ranked fourth in initial quality in this year's study, moving up six places from 2013. They also had multiple cars sitting within the top three positions in their segments, proving Hyundai is brand that delivers quality cars, trucks and SUVs.
J.D. Power's 2014 Initial Quality Study was created with the help of over 86,000 new car owners who participated in surveys after the first 90 days into their ownership. With the help of these participants, J.D. Powers was able to give Hyundai a score of 94 problems per 100 vehicles, which is 12 less than in 2013. The Hyundai Accent also received a great score of 65 problems per 100, making it second highest performing car in the entire study - a win for Hyundai.
"Receiving IQS awards in multiple vehicle segments acknowledges Hyundai's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction across our entire product lineup, not just our luxury vehicles," said Dave Zuchowski, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. "Today's awards are a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of all the Hyundai team members here, in Korea and Montgomery, Alabama."
