The 2016 Hyundai Tucson has officially become the only small SUV to earn “good” ratings in both driver and passenger small-overlap crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This astounding achievement is a proud moment for Hyundai and a testament to the company’s hard work and dedication when it comes to building safe, high-quality vehicles.

“At Hyundai, we continually strive to provide outstanding passenger safety to our customers, regardless of vehicle size or price,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, Corporate and Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Our 2016 Tucson’s good rating for both driver and passenger in the demanding IIHS small overlap crash test reflects our commitment to passenger safety at every level. We’re certainly proud of our Tucson’s industry-leading performance in the small SUV category.”

High-strength steel makes up 50 percent of the Tucson’s structure, enhancing overall safety for in-car occupants. The car also features unique crumple zones designed to help reduce impact for passengers and internal guard beams within all four doors that protect occupants during side-impact collisions. Additionally, several advanced safety features are available on the 2016 Tucson, including Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection.
