Compare the 2020 Hyundai Palisade SE and the 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited

The three-row, mid-size SUV class, is pretty cluttered, but several models stand out from the crowd with their upscale interior, roomy second-row seating area, and dependable powertrains. The 2020 Hyundai Palisade seats seven adults with ease, and it boasts a generous list of standard features regardless of trim level. This is an all-new vehicle from Hyundai, replacing the Santa Fe XL model. The base trim, designated as the SE, is affordably priced and comes loaded with high-tech features. The range-topping Limited trim gets all of the optional features available on the lower trims.

Performance

A 3.6L V6 powers both the 2020 Palisade SE and Limited trims. The engine has a robust, 291-horsepower output with 262 lb-ft of torque. Transmission is eight-speed automatic. Both the SE and Limited come with standard front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is optional.

The Palisade is not exactly a performance vehicle, but it comes with a truly well-rounded skill set. Acceleration is average for this vehicle class, about seven and one-half seconds to go from a full stop to 60 mph. Once at high speed, smooth acceleration is promised, so drivers can pass on the freeway with confidence.

Braking is extremely predictable, and the brake pedal never feels as though it's squishing down. Emergency braking is also competent. All in all, the vehicle performs nicely on the open roadway, and cornering is pretty effortless and without body roll.

Appearance

The SE and Limited trims have the same exact body design. The SE comes with parking sensors, heated exterior mirrors, and remote keyless entry. The Limited trim has these same features and adds on front parking sensors, LED headlights, and a dual sunroof. Roof rails are also standard on the Limited trim. The Palisade's roof pillars are rather thin, and this makes for excellent outward visibility. The front end design is bold and beautiful. The grille is large, and the headlights are slightly squarish and recessed. The roofline is gently sloping, and this means plenty of headroom in all three seating areas.

Features

For a base trim, buyers get quite a bit of nice stuff with the 2020 Palisade SE. Push-button ignition, full-range cruise control, power-folding second-row bench seats, and second-row climate controls are standard. The third-row seats are 60/40 split-folding, and the infotainment system is top-notch. The 8-inch screen display is easy to navigate and has a crisp, focused monitor. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. There's also a total of five USB ports, three up front, and two in the second-row seating area.

The Limited trim comes with all of these features and adds on leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, driver-seat memory settings, heated front- and second-row seats, ventilated seating, and a heated steering wheel. Buyers get a large, 10.25-inch screen display, an intercom system, a rear-seat passenger reminder, navigation, and satellite radio.

Both trims come with such safety features as automatic high beams, a drowsy driver monitor, forward collision warning with emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. The Limited also gets blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
